UCLL

UCLL (University College Leuven-Limburg) is a university college located in two Belgian provinces: Limburg and Flemish Brabant. The institution combines a broad network of expertise in both locations, with a focus on teaching, practice-oriented research and service. Administratively, UCLL is organised into two non-profit organisations: UC Leuven and UC Limburg.

UCLL’s Teacher Training Department is known for its extensive expertise in training and guiding (future) teachers. There is a strong emphasis on innovative, research-informed didactics and practice, combined with the expertise of an experienced teaching team and a direct and close link to the professional field. The practice-based research is pooled in ‘UCLL Research & Expertise’, where several centres of expertise, including the Art of Teaching centre, offer high-quality services and in-service training. Thus, Art of Teaching reaches more than 300 teachers every year with in-service training programmes.

UCLL has extensive experience in international, European and Euroregional projects. For example, UCLL participates in more than 40 ongoing international projects, taking on both partner and promoter roles. Within the Interreg Meuse-Rhine programme, for example, UCLL has acted as promoter of the EMR-112 STRE@M project and as project partner in EMRLingua. These projects illustrate UCLL’s expertise in euregional cooperation, where the organisation promotes cross-border cooperation and offers solutions with a social finality.

In this project, UCLL fulfils the role of lead partner for Work Package 2 (WP2). This means that UCLL is responsible for driving and monitoring the workflow within this work package.

UCLL focuses substantively on supporting teachers and student supervisors by developing 4 sessions of didactic guidelines. It also implements the sessions as pilots in three classes and coordinates the implementation of the pilots in two additional classes together with the project partners. Based on the feedback collected from these pilots, UCLL, in close cooperation with the partners, makes adjustments.

UCLL is also developing and implementing a train-the-trainer programme so that teachers and student supervisors are well prepared to apply the session effectively in their teaching practice.
