Career information day for the pupils of the Athenaeum of Aywaille

Pupils from the Royal Athenaeum Princesse Elisabeth in Aywaille discovered the Interreg VI project “Connect’ED” during a career information day and were able to get a first impression of career opportunities within the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

Last October, the project partners Basse-Meuse développement, CeCoTePe, StädteRegion Aachen and Euregio Maas-Rhein visited the Royal Athenaeum Princesse Elisabeth in Aywaille in the province of Liège (BE) to present the Interreg VI project “Connect’ED” to a class during a careers information day. Three themed tables were set up, between which the pupils were able to move in groups and obtain information.

The first table offered a wide-ranging presentation of the “Connect’ED” project. The employees of the above-mentioned project partners first explained to the young people the area of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine, with all its partner regions and its most important cities, as well as its extensive transport network, which allows them to get around quickly. This was followed by a general introduction to the project itself, its purpose, its objectives and the opportunities available to young people and schools. Among other things, the VR films and the escape room, the opportunity for schools to visit selected companies in the program area as part of the project, were discussed.

As a bonus, the BIWENAV educational pathway navigator from the Aachen city region was shown, an interactive online tool that can provide young people in doubt with numerous tips and information on studying and/or training.

The pupils were able to see how conveniently centrally located their municipality is in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and how the opportunities for studying and/or working are within reach.
